Troubleshooting: 7 Common Vape Problems and How to Fix Them
Burnt taste? Leaking? No vapour? Before you toss your device, try these simple fixes that solve the most common vaping issues.

1. Burnt or Dry Taste
This usually means the wick isn't saturated. For refillable devices, let a new coil sit for 5–10 minutes after filling to allow the e-liquid to soak in (this is called priming). Avoid chain-vaping — taking rapid, successive puffs doesn't give the wick time to re-saturate. If you've been using the same coil for weeks, it's time to replace it.
2. Device Not Producing Vapour
Check the battery — is it charged? Try clicking the fire button five times rapidly to unlock the device (many have a lock feature). Make sure the pod or tank is properly seated. If it's a disposable and the LED blinks when you try to puff, the battery is dead — time for a new one.
3. Leaking
Leaking is often caused by a worn or improperly seated O-ring, overfilling the tank, or leaving the device on its side. Check that all seals are tight and the coil is screwed in properly. Avoid leaving e-liquid in the tank for extended periods without use, as temperature changes can cause liquid to seep through seals.
4. Gurgling or Spitback
Excess e-liquid in the coil causes gurgling sounds and hot droplets hitting your mouth. Fix this by flicking the device (mouthpiece facing down, away from you) to dislodge excess liquid. Increasing the wattage slightly can also help vapourise the flooding liquid. Avoid overfilling your pod or tank.
5. Weak Flavour
Flavour fatigue is real — vaping the same flavour for weeks can dull your taste buds. Try switching flavours for a day or two. Also check if your coil needs replacing (coils degrade over 1–3 weeks of use) and make sure your e-liquid hasn't expired. Adjusting airflow can also revive muted flavours.
6. Battery Draining Too Fast
High wattage settings drain batteries faster. If your device allows adjustment, try lowering the wattage. Cold temperatures also reduce battery performance — don't leave your device in a cold car. If the battery is old (6+ months of daily use), its capacity has likely degraded and it may be time for a replacement.
7. Auto-Firing
If your device fires on its own (produces vapour without you pressing a button or inhaling), stop using it immediately. This is usually caused by e-liquid leaking onto the sensor or a stuck fire button. Clean the contacts and sensor area. If the issue persists, discontinue use — an auto-firing device is a safety hazard. Contact us for warranty support.
